Crowns & Wigs
Afro units, braided lace, silk press bundles and closures — steamed and combed out before it ever touches your head.
Front counterShantel Variety Shop is where wigs, skin, scent, and a little bit of sparkle share a counter. Come for the bundle you need — leave with the headwrap tying lesson, the gele fold, and the gist you didn't know you needed.
Shantel Adeyemi opened her first counter in Balogun Market in 2016 with eleven wigs, a crate of shea butter, and a notebook of customers' birthdays. Word moved faster than the stock did. Nine years on, the shop has grown into six counters run by women who know your name, your hair pattern, and — usually — what you're actually shopping for before you say it.
We're not a supermarket and we're not trying to be. Every item on these shelves was chosen by hand, tested on real heads and real skin, and priced to be fair to the woman buying it and the woman who sourced it.
"If it wouldn't sit right on my own head, it doesn't sit on my shelf."

Front counterRaw shea, whipped cocoa butter, and a small run of cosmetics we've watched clear breakouts on our own faces first.
Middle aisleOil perfumes decanted to order, incense bundles, and the home fragrance sticks half our regulars restock monthly.
Back leftAnkara gele, waist beads strung while you wait, sunglasses, and the little gold hoops everyone asks about.
Window tableWoven baskets, poured candles, and table linen brought in from three different weavers we trust by name.
Back rightNo membership card, no fine print — just how we treat anyone who walks past the beaded curtain.
Sit down for ten minutes and one of us checks your parting, your head shape, and your actual lace tolerance before you buy anything.
Buy a headwrap and we'll show you two folds on the spot — the classic tie and the one for when you're running late.
Every gift-marked item leaves in fabric, not plastic. Tell us who it's for and we'll pick the print.
Order before 3pm and a rider brings it to you within Lagos Island before the shop shuts for the night.
Tell us what you're waiting on and we message you the moment it's back on the shelf — no repeat trips for nothing.
"I went in for edge control and came out with a fitting, a fold lesson, and a new perfume oil. Nobody rushed me once."
"They remembered my daughter's birthday from a conversation I had eight months earlier and set a wig aside. That's the whole reason I keep going back."
"The gele lesson alone is worth the trip. I've had three compliments on the fold they taught me and I still can't do it as neat as they did."
